AERTHIR-32

The Amicabots and their Predecessors come from a planet called Aerthir-32. Its environment is much like Earth's; it is oxygen-based and rich with water, plant life, and fauna. It boasts a diverse ecosystem that has been damaged by The Great Restful One's eruption, but many of the planet is still in tact even after the Apocalypse. Islands further from the Eruption Zone are much healthier, though the lack of Predecessor society has left even the safe-to-inhabit areas abandoned for several years.

Unlike Earth, Aerthir-32 does not have human life. The Predecessors were an anthro people that highly resembled Default Amicabots, without the synthetic aspect to them.

PRE-APOCALYPSE

The name 'Amicabot' is a portmanteau of "amicable" and "robot" — appropriately,  Amicabots were created to be companions and members of society.  Prior to the apocalypse,  Amicabots lived peacefully with the Predecessors who created them. They were friends, family members, partners, and colleagues with one another. Amicabots were never intended to be treated like objects, pets, or simple machines—their purpose was always to live alongside their creators as equals.

Many Amicabots prior to the apocalypse were built to fulfill certain purposes. Workers, helpers, and explorers were common. For instance, Amicabots often fulfilled purposes that regular jobs would—with examples such as caring for children or the elderly,  working with engineering and robotics, teaching in schools, entertaining crowds, or even simply serving the purpose of being a beloved member of a Predecessor household.  Amicabots were even often built to take on jobs deemed unsafe for their Predecessors, such as traversing terrains deemed uninhabitable for organic llife. These Amicabots were built with certain modifications in mind: high-pressure-withstanding deep sea exploration Amicabots, lead-lined Amicabots built for handling radioactive materials, flame-proof Amicabots built to fight against fires and rescue those in peril—the list could go on. Essentially,  Amicabots fulfilled important roles in the world.

Of course, every Amicabot is unique. Even before the apocalypse,  the world wasn't perfect. Amicabots were sometimes hacked into and reprogrammed for less pleasant roles in society. Other Amicabots, programmed with good intentions, may have come to see the world around them in a less positive light. Each Amicabot has a personality of their own that can be affected by the world around it.

SOCIETY AND CULTURE

Amicabots are generally built with sociable programming; even most introverted of the species tends to enjoy some form of company. Due to their programmed social tendencies, Amicabots tend to live in groups—this could be as small as two close companions or as large as an entire city full of Amicabots. It isn't unheard of to see Amicabots living in previously-abandoned areas that they've renovated and repaired to be inhabitable once again.

Due to being so heavily influenced by the culture of their Predecessors, Amicabots tend to mimic their traditions or invent new ones inspired by the traditions of old. Holidays, festivals, and planned group activities are a favorite of many Amicabots, and they often carry on these thjngs as a way to honor their fallen Predecessors.

GENDER AND SEXUALITY

Amicabots understand the concepts of gender and sexuality from the Predecessors. It's up to the individual Amicabot to identify how they wish. Some were built with a specific gender programming in mind and accept it, while others change their gender into something they're more comfortable with. Amicabots are highly modifiable and swapping out parts and physical features is completely possible.

Amicabots are synthetic beings and therefore lack biology. Therefore, concepts like sexual reproduction are lost to Amicabots. However, they can be capable of experiencing attraction even so. If an Amicabot wishes to raise a family of their own, they may do so by simply building other Amicabots using spare parts or building kits.

Amicabots can be any gender or sexuality, or lack thereof; there is no form of discrimination against identity among their kind, and variations in identities are accepted as normal.
