Beachside Walk
Echo dawdles behind the shiny blue Giant Isobot as they scuttle slowly through the sand, leaving countless tiny footsteps in their wake. The grey Amicabot makes a game of following their narrow trail, and her much larger footsteps practically annihilate Tetra’s tracks. Apparently, at some point before Echo got woken up, Amicabots managed to domesticate these huge, robotic isopods. She’s not complaining, but part of her does wonder if there was ever an equivalent domestic species before the eruption… if there was, Echo hopes it fared better with the apocalyptic conditions than the Predecessors did. Although, she does suppose Isobots in general probably could’ve predated the eruption, just like Amicabots themselves.
She isn’t quite sure on how, exactly, she ended up with Tetra in the first place. Of course, now that the oversized bug is here, Echo can’t imagine life without them, but she’d never really made an active effort to get a pet. The grey Amicabot sorta just… came across the vibrant Isobot one day, and suddenly, they wouldn’t leave her side. But, that’s more than okay. It’s not like Tetra’s difficult to feed or anything, and they’re really good at finding scrap… stopping the Isobot from eating all the scrap they find before she can catch up is another story, but hey, finder’s tax.
Tetra begins shuffling further away from the lapping waves, seemingly moving with purpose; Echo’s ears prick as she notices this change in behaviour.
“Hm?” She asks the Isobot, even though she knows she’ll be lucky if they even acknowledge her question. “Did you find something, or…?”
As if on cue, Tetra burrows into the soft, dry sand; hiding all their legs, leaving only their red-striped shell on display. Echo lets out an amused sigh. They found something, alright… a nice spot to have a rest.
